The life-size gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is reportedly gone for good. Disney has said the massive gingerbread house is not returning for the 2026 holiday season. In addition, there are apparently no plans to bring it back in the future.
The gingerbread house was absent during the 2025 holiday season while the Grand Floridian made significant renovations to its lobby. Despite the refurb being completed, the gingerbread house isn’t coming back.
While Disney isn’t bringing back the enormous gingerbread house, the resort will still have some sort of gingerbread display. It remains to be seen what the new display will look like. Whatever the culinary team rolls out has the very tough task of trying to live up to the beloved gingerbread house before it.
As disappointing as this news is, it’s not surprising. We suspected the gingerbread house’s future was in jeopardy when the Grand Floridian’s update included a new lobby bar. That lobby bar takes up a good amount of space, and we couldn’t picture how both the bar and the gingerbread house would work with the holiday crowds.
The Grand Floridian’s lobby was often extremely crowded during the holiday season with guests trying to see the gingerbread house. We’ve visited when it was basically shoulder-to-shoulder. Despite the revenue Disney was making selling holiday treats from the gingerbread house, we wondered what they felt about the guest experience. Guest staying at the resort during this time period had to deal with some crazy crowds.

As a reminder, the Grand Floridian isn’t the only place to see a gingerbread display. Many of Disney’s deluxe resorts host gingerbread displays and other displays for the holidays. Though nothing may really compare to the life-size gingerbread house, we still think Walt Disney World’s resorts look their best during the holidays.
