Cables for the Disney Skyliner transportation system are about to start going up at Disney World.
The Walt Disney World Swan resort has placed a notice that Friendship Boat service to Epcot will be closed from November 28, 2018 through December 18, 2018. Martin Smith, noted Disney insider, confirmed that this is when the cables for the gondola system would be going up.
Martin also pointed out that there should be some wild photo opportunities in the area as the cables start going up. Admittedly, it’s already hard to picture what things will look like once the system is operating.
At this time, there haven’t been notices made at the other Epcot resorts about boat closures or changes at the International Gateway. However, we’d expect an announcement in the near future as the cables will stretch across the walkway that guests currently use to access Epcot’s International Gateway.
Meanwhile, work on the Disney Skyliner station at Epcot is continuing, most recently seen with scaffolding at the exterior.
