Disney has shared a first look at the updated rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. This refurbishment falls into the “soft goods” category, which means the rooms saw mostly minor updates without any huge changes. While minor, this update still touched on a decent number of elements, and added some welcome color to the formerly bland rooms.
Let’s take a look!

It’s immediately clear there’s a lot more color in the updated Pop Century rooms. Two of the room’s walls are now a light blue color. In addition to the walls, color was added through a new inlay in the laminate flooring, new chair fabric, and through a Mickey Mouse curtain. These changes, while minor, go a long way in making the room feel more
The colorful flooring inlay is a big win as it adds some needed contrast to the white bedding. It also helps outline the bed, which will hopefully cut down on how many shins are banged against the protruding frame. Believe us – it’s painful. The bathrooms didn’t see any significant changes and look as they did before.
Overall, we like these changes to the rooms over at Pop Century! While the rooms before weren’t bad per se, they did draw comparisons to cold, sterile hospital rooms. This refurbishment added some nice warmth and theming. The old rooms also drew criticism for lacking any of that Disney charm – a criticism that has been made repeatedly towards recent Disney design projects. Maybe this is a shift in a better direction.
