Work continues to widen a walkway near Cinderella Castle

Here’s another quick update on the construction that’s taking place near Cinderella Castle to widen one of the most narrow walkways in all of Walt Disney World.

More cement has been poured to form the walls of the expanded walkway and it appears work will begin soon on the path itself. Meanwhile, a portion of the moat near Cinderella Castle remains drained as work continues.

Previously, this walkway would become completely congested if guests tried to walk two or three across during a busy day at the Magic Kingdom. A couple double-wide strollers could bring traffic to a standstill. The widening of this walkway is a welcome change that comes as Walt Disney World prepares for large crowds with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. A similar project is also taking place at Epcot.

It’d be great to see this area reopen prior to the July 3 and July 4 celebrations that draw some of the largest crowds of the year to the Magic Kingdom, but work will need to wrap up rather quickly for that to happen.
