The Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster continues to make strong progress at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with more track installed and new blue wall panels going up. The coaster is being built just outside the current park boundaries, which means our best view comes from our eye-in-the-sky reporter @bioreconstruct. Let’s take a look!
For starters, here’s a great overview of where the Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster is going. It’s outside the old boundary of the Muppet Courtyard, and represents a genuine expansion to Hollywood Studios.
A closer shot shows just how large the coaster building is. It’s big! Of course, it has to be to contain the full ride and queue. Look to the area just above the red cranes to see where the area for the Door Coaster will connect to the rest of Monstropolis.
Let’s dive into the specifics!
Thanks to some nice angles from Bio, we can see one side of the ride building has wall panels, and they’re disguised with Disney’s special “Bye, Bye Blue” color. It’s a relative to Disney’s “Go Away Green” color scheme that aims to conceal or mask unthemed areas from guests. Disney hopes the paint will help the building blend into the sky – or at least be so dull to look at that it doesn’t grab your attention.
What are those blue panels hiding? Installed coaster track!
Things are getting exciting! There’s obviously a long way to go before the Door Coaster and its surroundings are ready for guests, but we appreciate the progress so far. Disney is moving pretty quickly on this project compared to others in recent years.
Parts of Monstropolis will welcome guests for the first time in 2027. The Door Coaster will open later, but it’s unclear how much later it will open compared to the rest of the land.
