We have a new look at the Glob Theatre that guests will visit in Monstropolis in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! This new concept art shows the lobby guests will wait in before filing into their seats. Brace yourself MuppetVision 3D fans – this might be tough to see.
The Glob Theatre’s lobby used to be full of quirky jokes and puns when the Muppets called it home. Now, the concept art depicts a more refined space with monster theming and a concession stand.
We anticipate the concessions could be similar to the themed concession stand found in Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland Park. That faux concession stand is stocked with lots of silly gags and puns (it’s not a real concession stand), and we think it’ll be similar here but monsters themed. Look for a lot of Easter eggs!
Then again maybe will surprise us and have a functional concession stand … though that seems like a logistical and operational nightmare.
Around the rest of the lobby are some posters for upcoming acts as well as some fun, yet subtle monsters theming. Check out the tentacles near the doorways to the theatre.
Overall, it looks like Disney is going with a more subtle approach to the Monsters Inc. theming inside the Glob Theatre. So far, the theming looks like it is more sophisticated (check out those chandeliers!) than it is over-the-top silly.
We’re hoping Monstropolis feels more like a place monsters might call home rather than one where guests do a constant “Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the screen” meme at all the references.
