Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom to close for refurbishment between January and March 2019

Updated:

Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close for its annual refurbishment beginning in January 2019. The current schedule calls for it to be closed starting on January 7, 2019 before reopening on March 23, 2019.

This refurbishment period, which will last for just over two months, comes when Florida is seeing some of its cooler temperatures. Disney usually selects this time of the year for maintenance and repairs. Who wants to get soaking wet when temperatures are in the 40s or 50s?

Assuming everything goes according to plan, the ride will reopen just in time for the larger Spring crowds.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch, which is currently closed at Animal Kingdom, is also expected to reopen in Spring 2019.
