Some activity has been spotted at the old home of Disney’s River Country water park on the shoreline of Bay Lake. Construction equipment and fencing have been moved into place to start preparing the area for the new nature-themed resort called Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Resort.
Guests taking boat rides on Bay Lake noticed the fencing and multiple backhoes around River Country.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the area, the old River Country site sits on the shore near Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
Disney’s River Country water park closed in November 2001 and has sat abandoned ever since, mostly unchanged as nature started to reclaim the water park. The location has been a popular one for trespassers who want to document a blast from the past that has sat frozen in time.
Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Resort will feature over 900 rooms that will include a variety of accommodation types and Disney Vacation Club villas. The resort will be nature-themed and is expected to have unique accommodations for the whole family to enjoy. It’s currently expected to open in 2022.
