Disney Cruise Line cancels all Canadian departures through September 14, 2020

Disney Cruise Line has announced another large wave of cancellations in the wake of the ongoing health pandemic. All Disney Wonder itineraries scheduled to embark or debark through Vancouver have been cancelled through September 14, 2020 following Canada’s decision to restrict all cruise ships through October 31, 2020.

The announcement, as seen on Disney Cruise Line’s travel advisory page, states the following:

On May 29, 2020, the Canadian government extended its decision to not allow cruise ships to dock in Canadian ports through October 31, 2020. As a result, it is necessary for us to cancel Disney Wonder sailings scheduled to embark and/or debark in Vancouver through September 14, 2020. We are also evaluating the Disney Magic sailings scheduled to visit Canadian ports this October, but have not made changes to any itineraries at this time. Once a decision is made, we will reach out to Guests booked on these sailings.

No additional cancellations were announced at this time. As with previous cancellations, Disney Cruise Line is offering impacted guests either a full refund or a credit for a future cruise. They have also extended the window for when guests must apply their credit to a future cruise, making the credit valid on departures through March 31, 2022.

In contrast to the Canadian government, the Bahamas are hoping to reopen to tourists beginning on July 1, 2020. It’s possible that cruise itineraries visiting the Bahamas or Disney’s private island of Castaway Cay will be the first to resume sailing once the CDC’s regulations ease.
