Disney has revealed the first look at the Muppets retheme over at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The two new pieces of concept art show the updated larger-than-life guitar outside the attraction as well as a look at the Muppets taking over the recording studio.
Outside, the familiar giant red guitar will get a psychedelic paint job that feels perfect for the ride’s new residents, the Electric Mayhem. There will even be a nod to Dr. Teeth on the piano keys.
Inside, the Electric Mayhem are jamming out in the recoding studio in front of penguin audio engineers. Are these the same penguins from Muppet Vision 3D? Possibly! Similar to the original Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, there’s a mad rush to board a super stretch limo to make it to the concert on time.
The limo ride will once again take guests on a crazy trip through Hollywood. But, guests should expect a Muppets twist on the landmarks and scenery they pass on the way to the concert. What about the soundtrack? Disney hasn’t announced a setlist at this time.
Overall, the Muppets retheme sounds like a new overlay versus a serious overhaul. And that’s OK! The beauty about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is that it’s already a solid ride system. Ultimately, we think the song selection and how big of a Muppets presence is on the ride experience itself will make or break this update.
