Land Prep Moves Forward for Monsters Inc. Door Coaster

Updated:

It’s been a hot second since we checked in on the new Monsters Inc. Door Coaster that’s coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since our last update, crews have continued clearing and preparing the site to get it ready for vertical construction. The always great @bioreconstruct took to the sky to see what’s new.

For reference, the ride building that will contain most of the Monsters Inc. coaster sits in a cast member parking lot just behind the old Muppet Courtyard.

The coaster building will sit at an angle in the parking lot, but will be lined up directly behind the former Muppets Courtyard. Taking a closer look, we can see what looks like work on utilities continuing around the site.

Foundations and footers still need to be poured, but it looks like vertical construction isn’t too far away. Things are moving pretty quickly on this project by Disney standards. While an opening date hasn’t been announced for the Monsters Inc land, it’s possible it won’t take quite as long as expected.

Concept art for the Monsters Inc land shows the Door Coaster building sitting at the back of the updated area. The old Muppets store has already been demolished, opening up the center of the land. In addition to the coaster, the Monstropolis land will also have a show in the old Muppet Vision 3D theatre, restaurants, and shopping.
