Site Clearing Underway for Monsters Inc Door Coaster

Updated:

Did you know the new Monsters Inc Door Coaster is already being worked on at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Land is being cleared for the coaster’s ride building just beyond the boundaries of the old Muppets Courtyard.

New aerial pictures from @bioreconstruct show the footprint for the coaster’s ride building. The ride will primarily sit in a large space that was home to cast member parking. The parking lot has been sectioned off, and workers are just starting to level and clear the land.

While it may look odd that the building’s footprint is on an angle, you can see it actually lines up nicely with the rest of the old Muppets Courtyard. Below it’s easy to see how the coaster building will sit past the current park boundary located beyond the buildings used for Muppet Vision 3D and Rise of the Resistance.

Disney’s concept art for the Monsters Inc land shows approximately what the Door Coaster building will look like when it’s finished. Sidenote – we always find it funny when Disney places trees in its concept art where there’s actually parking and infrastructure.

Currently, Disney hasn’t announced an official opening date for the Monsters Inc land. Disney will want to stagger its opening dates for its new projects around Disney World, and the Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is already scheduled to open in 2027. That makes the Monsters Inc opening window a bit more complicated to predict.

Will Monsters Inc land wait to open until 2028? Or will Disney speed along with this project and get it open in 2026? We’ll have to wait and see.
