Disney has revealed some new perks that are exclusive to guests staying at the new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Island Tower at Polynesian Village Resort. One of those perks finally explains a mystery we’ve been trying to solve since the first concept art for the Island Tower was originally released.
The first special area Disney highlighted is a splash area themed to Moana. The splash area will have sculptures from the movie, including a very large and impressive replica of Moana sailing on her boat.
Disney also said the Island Tower will have four Terrace Gardens that are available only to tower guests. These gardens are in the large square cutouts in the sides of the tower that we’ve been wondering about, and will give guests amazing views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom.
We imagine these are going to be extremely popular viewing locations for the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Does Disney plan to pipe in music from the shows?
Finally, Disney provided the first information about new dining in the Island Tower. The Wailulu Bar & Grill will feature on-the-go breakfast, an all-day lunch and dinner menu, and a walk-up pool bar and grill.
We’ve been critical of the Island Tower’s appearance and theming (or lack of theming) to this point. But, credit where it’s due, the Wailulu restaurant looks outstanding. There’s a great blend of colors, wood carving, and decorations (those dolphins!) that make the space look alive and welcoming. And, most importantly, not bland!
The Island Tower at the Polynesian Village Resort is scheduled to open December 17th, 2024.
