We’ve been keeping a close eye on the construction of Disney Lakeshore Lodge, and we spotted a new feature that should make a lot of pool lovers very happy. The new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort will have a lazy river in the pool area, making it only the second resort pool at Disney World to have one (the other is at Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club resorts).
We can see the lazy river taking shape thanks to some aerial pictures from @bioreconstruct.
It’s nice to see the lazy river at Disney Lakeshore Lodge actually coming to fruition. Many sharp-eyed Disney fans noticed what looked like a lazy river in the resort’s permits. But, as we all know, Disney plans aren’t ever final until we can see tangible proof they’re being built.
The permits also indicate a water slide will be installed on the opposite side of the pool from the lazy river. We can see what looks like work taking place on the slide’s tower in these aerials. Work on the slide’s base is marked by the red arrow.
And here’s the same spot in the permit. The slide wraps around itself a couple times before dumping guests into the main pool. Looks like fun to us!
While a lazy river and a slide aren’t exactly revolutionary, we’re glad Disney is doing something a bit different at Disney Lakeshore Lodge. We want each of Disney’s resorts to have unique features and theming that gives them their own identity. For example, the Moana splash pad area at the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one feature that helps the Island Tower stand out.
Ultimately, a nice pool area doesn’t make a great resort. Disney Lakeshore Lodge will hopefully reverse some of the poor design decisions Disney has made at its resorts in recent years. We’re rooting for Lakeshore Lodge to have strong theming that can’t be mistaken for any Marriott or chain hotel. No more bland, boring, minimalist design, please!
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is currently scheduled to open in 2027.
