Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom is going back to its original paint scheme. Disney has announced that Cinderella Castle is abandoning its current pink paint color and will return to its traditional blue and white appearance at some point in the future.
While Disney said the castle will return to its roots, they haven’t finalized all the details.
The updated paint will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold aiming to enhance the castleโs architecture. While the project team is still putting the finishing touches on the paint design process, we wanted to share the incredible amount of research and care that goes into this project.

Disney didn’t mention when guests should expect to see work on Cinderella Castle beginning. Cranes and scaffolding will eventually have to be put in place just as they were when the castle was changed to pink several years ago.
This is a welcome change! We’ve been critics of the pink look ever since it debuted over 5 years ago. We believe Cinderella Castle should have its own identity, and the pink looked far too similar to Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland. The pink color also looked better or worse depending on the lighting. Certain times of day and cloud conditions made the “rose gold” pink look more like salmon. Not ideal.
Now that the castle is going back to its older, better color, can we convince Disney to bring back the Dream Lights for the holidays too?
