Update: Park hopping is coming back! A modified Park Hopper experience will return on January 1, 2021.
*****
Guests at Walt Disney World used to be able to visit multiple theme parks in the same day with either a Park Hopper ticket or an annual pass. Unfortunately, this feature, which is known as Park Hopping, has been suspended since Walt Disney World reopened. Currently, the Disney Park Pass Reservation system limits guests to one park per day, making many wonder if Park Hopping will ever return.
The good news is that Park Hopping is still in Walt Disney World’s long-term plans. However, the bad news is that Park Hopping isn’t on the forefront of Disney’s immediate plans at this time. There isn’t a schedule indicating when Park Hopping will return, but various reports have confirmed Disney aims for it to eventually come back.
Park Hopping should be able to return as soon as Disney can confirm it won’t overwhelm its reduced capacities. Right now, Disney is trying to delicately balance the theme park reservation system to make sure guests with tickets, resort stays and annual passes are accommodated. Park Hopping may be slowly eased back in at first at specific parks after a certain time of day to maintain that balance.
Financially, Park Hopping returning is in Disney’s best interest. It’s also a perk many guests thoroughly enjoy. Who doesn’t love visiting the Magic Kingdom in the morning, taking a break at the resort during the afternoon heat and then exploring Epcot at night? Talk about a magical day.
Look for Disney to release information on Park Hopping in the future when they increase theme park capacity.
