A major refurbishment is about to begin at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney has announced that they’re going to update all of the rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge beginning in October 2025 and lasting through January 2027.
The rooms in Kidani Village will be updated first before Disney moves on to work on the rooms in Jambo House. Here’s how it breaks down:

From October 2025 through May 2026, Guest rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will undergo refurbishment—followed by refurbishment at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027.
As always, these timelines are subject to change without notice. We have seen other Disney room refurbishment projects go beyond their estimated completion date, so it wouldn’t be a big surprise if these dates shift.
Disney didn’t reveal what the new rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge will look like. However, we’re expecting this to be a significant update. All signs point to this being a major “hard goods” refurbishment, which means just about everything in the room could be changed. This won’t be just a new rug or a new coat of paint.
Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of our favorite resorts at Walt Disney World, and we’re optimistic about this room update. The rooms have been showing their age on recent visits. A big refurb was due. We hope Disney will freshen things up without losing the charm and theming that many love at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
