The canopy is starting to be installed for TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom

Construction of the TRON Lightcycle Run coaster at the Magic Kingdom recently crossed a significant milestone. The first portion of the ride’s signature canopy has been installed, paving the way for the nearly 40 pieces that will create the dynamic covering for the exterior track.

Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley highlighted the occasion on Instagram.

The curved canopy is the most striking feature of the TRON Lightcycle Run building. As our construction updates have shown, the main ride building is a fairly nondescript gray box. The canopy will conceal some of the ride building from view, and provide a colorful light show at night.

Concept art for TRON Lightcycle Run shows how the canopy will sit next to the ride building just behind Space Mountain.

TRON Lightcycle Run was originally expected to open in 2021, but Disney has not announced a formal opening date at this time.
