Paving has started on the new section of the Tomorrowland Speedway

Updated:

Here’s a quick update on the rerouting of the Tomorrowland Speedway at the Magic Kingdom. Some paving has started on the section that was previously demolished to make room for work on the new TRON coaster that’s coming in 2021.

The rerouted section, which appears to be very similar in layout to the original section, has some initial paving in place as seen in @bioreconstruct’s photo.

The Tomorrowland Speedway is currently expected to reopen to Magic Kingdom guests on May 18, 2019.

It’s still rumored that the attraction could see a significant update in terms of theming prior to the TRON coaster’s opening in 2021. That’s in addition to the overall updates that Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned were coming to Tomorrowland in the near future.
