New COVID-19 guest liability statement added to the Walt Disney World website

Disney has updated the Walt Disney World website with a new notice warning guests about the risks of visiting during the COVID-19 pandemic. The statement, which was released after new health guidelines were announced for the reopening of Disney Springs, warns guests that they are voluntarily assuming the risk of visiting during the current health crisis.

The newly added liability statement on the travel advisory page can be viewed below:

Summarized, Disney has created a variety of safety measures that guests must follow when visiting any part of Walt Disney World property. Even with those measures in place, Disney is recognizing that COVID-19 can still be transmitted and it is ultimately up to the guest to decide if the risk of shopping at Disney Springs, for example, is worth possible exposure.

Despite some confusion we saw on social media, the line stating “you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure” does not mean guests visiting Disney property do not have to follow the posted regulations, such as having to wear masks. Walt Disney World is private property and they are allowed to refuse admittance to guests who are not complying with their health regulations.
