Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy set to open March 31 at Hollywood Studios

Updated:

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, a new show that’s coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will officially open on March 31, 2019. The show will be located near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Sunset Showcase and will bring guests face-to-face with Lightning McQueen.

During the show, Lightning McQueen will appear live on stage. There, he and all the guests will be surrounded by a wraparound screen that measures nearly two stories tall and over 200 feet long. Lightning McQueen hopes to show off to guests everything he has learned during his career, but things unfortunately don’t go according to plan.

This show should be a fun new addition to Hollywood Studios. Previously, the location for this show has been sitting idle after being used as a flex space for the past several years. A true addition rather than a replacement is always welcome at a Walt Disney World theme park.

Hollywood Studios will need all of the attractions and shows it can find in order to accommodate the enormous crowds that are expected for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
