Land clearing and alterations underway for evacuation routes for the Disney Skyliner

Construction equipment has been spotted around Walt Disney World to prepare and clear evacuation routes for the Disney Skyliner. Most of the activity was seen at Caribbean Beach Resort, clearing and preparing the ground beneath the Disney Skyliner cables in the event equipment needs to brought in to evacuate the guest cabins.

The folks over at Blog Mickey captured some great photos of the work taking place at Caribbean Beach Resort. They believe that irrigation pipes are being rerouted so that heavy equipment can approach the cables without damaging pipes or other infrastructure.

The Caribbean Beach Resort may see the largest disruption should an evacuation occur due to the close proximity of the cables and towers to some of the guest buildings.

Disney previously announced that the Disney Skyliner will open in Fall 2019. With much of the construction complete and tests taking place on the lines, the work to clear evacuation routes may be the final hurdle to clear before the transportation system can open.
