It’s time for another TRON Lightcycle Run construction update

Work continues to progress on the new TRON Lightcycle Run coaster that’s coming to the Magic Kingdom. The last time we checked in we saw that the exterior walls were starting to go up on the attraction’s ride building. Now, we can see that a majority of the exterior walls are up and Disney is using a white and gray color scheme to mask the building.

As always, a big thanks to @bioreconstruct for these great photos. Note that the darkest color on the building is actually a dark gray, though some shadows may make it appear to be blue.

While we usually see Disney deploy a blue sky or a “go away” green color scheme, such as what we can see at the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster, here they opted for shades of white and gray to blend into the attraction’s canopy.

The ride’s enormous canopy will extend over the exterior portion of the track and will assist in hiding the building from view. We can see in the concept art how the daytime color of the canopy should match up fairly well with the color scheme of the building.

It’s worth noting there are still some awkward views of the TRON coaster building, such as around Storybook Circus, so we’ll have to wait and see how Disney will handle those sightlines. Some new trees around that side of the building could go a long way in addressing that problem.

TRON Lightcycle Run is expected to open at the Magic Kingdom in 2021.
