Disney Vacation Club to Replace All Existing Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Updated:

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is once again expanding at Walt Disney World. Disney has announced that DVC will replace all of the more than 350 existing cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground with “refreshed cabin hideaways.”

This update, along with others around the resort, will make Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground the 17th DVC property. The changes are expected to be complete in 2024.

Other changes to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground call for pool and walking trail enhancements as well as new expanded dining experiences at Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern.

Disney notes that the cabins will remain available for all guests to reserve, based on availability, regardless of DVC status.

Is this Disney’s new plan after the Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge project was shelved? Refurbishing the cabins at Fort Wilderness and making other minor changes is certainly a much more affordable DVC concept compared to a brand new resort.

For those keeping track at home, the updates to the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be the second active Disney Vacation Club construction project at Walt Disney World. Work has been flying along on the other DVC addition over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Meanwhile, Disney hasn’t announced any attraction updates or additions at its theme parks after the Journey of Water walkthrough attraction opens in EPCOT. Disney, and more specifically Disney CEO Bob Iger, has praised the theme parks and recognized the opportunity to build capacity. But, to date, all attention at Walt Disney World is on DVC.
