World of Color – ONE will close for refurbishment at Disney California Adventure beginning September 9, 2024. The refurbishment is estimated to last several weeks with the show returning at some point later in Fall 2024.
Disney didn’t provide a specific reopening date or any additional details on what the refurbishment will include. This sounds like it will cover routine maintenance and won’t include any show changes.
World of Color – ONE previously closed for refurbishment between January 8 and February 29 of this year. We can try to use that closure as a rough timeline, which would suggest the show will stay dark through late October. We imagine Disney would want the show to be running during the peak Halloween crowds, but whether or not that target is hit remains to be seen.
When World of Color – ONE does return, it should be brief as World of Color – Season of Light, the holiday show, is scheduled to come back in Fall 2024. The World of Color – ONE version of the show continues to have mixed reviews, with some celebrating the characters and effects, and others missing the original version of the show.
