The guest arrival experience is changing at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Beginning later in 2024, the entrances to both parks will be updated to add additional gates, and to make the gates more stroller and ADA accessible.
The entrance gates at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure are expected to be automated, which means they’ll open automatically after the cast member scans a valid ticket.

Currently, the update to the entrances appears to be focused on the gates themselves rather than a full update that would change the security process. The security scanning process at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure is still done manually by cast members, which means they check each guest bag by hand.
By comparison, Walt Disney World’s security process uses touchless scanners that allow guests with bags to walk through without having to stop. Cast members only search a bag by hand if the scanner detects anything unusual. The touchless scanners are one of the best recent changes at Walt Disney World, and they’ve made the arrival experience quicker and easier.
