What’s currently being built at Disneyland Resort? Disneyland is constantly evolving and Disney is always building or updating its attractions, restaurants, and resorts. It can be difficult to keep track of all of the new things Disney is working on.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Takes Over Splash Mountain
The retheming of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is underway at Disneyland. The old Splash Mountain closed in May 2023, and since then crews have been working on getting the ride ready for its expected late 2024 opening.
Disney describes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure:
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film. Picking up where the film left off, guests will join Princess Tiana, Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film as they are brought into the next chapter of Tiana’s story.
Disney has gradually released more information about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but perhaps the best look at what’s to come has been seen over in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The retheme of Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom has been ahead of Disneyland’s, and should serve as a guide of what’s to come at Disneyland.
Construction will need to go into overdrive for Disney to hit the announced late 2024 opening window.
Expanded Grounds Around the Haunted Mansion
The area around the Haunted Mansion attraction is receiving some fun updates. The outdoor queue will be expanded and enhanced with landscaping and new theming. On the other side of the Haunted Mansion, a new retail shop themed to Madame Leota’s carriage house will be a new shop for everything spooky.
Disney plans to start work on the Haunted Mansion’s new areas in January 2024. Read more on the Haunted Mansion announcements here.
Downtown Disneyland Update
The site of the former AMC theater will become a new area with shops, a Din Tai Fung restaurant, a new Earl of Sandwich location, and more. Other existing areas, such as the Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar, are making way for new tenants.
Currently, Disney hopes to have the revamped Downtown Disneyland projects complete in 2024.

Retheming of Paradise Pier Hotel
One of Disneyland’s other hotels, Paradise Pier Hotel, is transforming into the Pixar Place Hotel. Pixar Place Hotel will feature – you guessed it – Pixar touches throughout the lobby, pool area, and more. A new restaurant called Great Maple will bring playful takes on upscale comfort food.
The overhaul of the Paradise Pier Hotel into the Pixar Place Hotel will open in stages throughout 2023.
Adventureland Treehouse Update in Disneyland
The old Tarzan Treehouse in Adventureland is being updated to pay tribute to the movie Swiss Family Robinson. The Treehouse has been closed since September 2021 and it took Disney over a year to announce their new plans for the space.
New Disneyland Hotel Tower – Opened September 2023
The Disneyland Hotel’s signature three-tower design is forever changing. A new fourth tower dedicated to Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is rising up, offering 350 villas, a new pool, a new bar, and more. The new tower, called the Discovery Tower, adds new options for DVC guests visiting Disneyland Resort and represents one of the largest expansions at the hotel in its history.
