The construction of The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is visibly progressing. The new restaurant, which is taking over the location of ESPN Zone, now has walls and windows in place.
The Cake Bake Shop was originally expected to open in 2023, but then was delayed to 2024. The restaurant is finally taking shape after being gutted and demolished down to the steel skeleton.

Another picture from DC Baker shows the progress on The Cake Bake Shop from the walkway closest to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Here, we can see that crews have also been working on the restaurant’s new roof.
The Cake Bake Shop, which was originally announced back in August 2022, has been under construction for quite some time. Progress has been slow and difficult to measure over the past several months. Now, the latest push forward suggests the restaurant could still open in the first half of 2024, though we’re not sure if it’ll hit the “early 2024” target that was announced.
Once open, The Cake Bake Shop will offer Disney guests a new table service dining location and, you guessed it, a bakery. Guests will find sweet and savory items in addition to an afternoon tea service.
