Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith will close on March 2 next year, marking the beginning of its transformation into a reimagined attraction themed to the Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The roller coaster will welcome the Electric Mayhem and a brand new soundtrack for its reopening in summer 2026.
Disney quietly closed the ride’s pre-show with Aerosmith at the beginning of December. The pre-show has been sealed off to give Disney a head start on adding some familiar Muppets characters. And, even some animatronic penguins that look like they came over from the closed Muppet Vision 3D attraction.

Now that we have an official closing date and a reopening window, we can confirm this retheming isn’t a massive overhaul. Disney will spend roughly 5-8 months on this project, assuming the coaster reopens between May and August. That’s not enough time to do anything too crazy, but it will allow for a new pre-show and new theming along the coaster’s route.
We think the success of this Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster retheme will depend on its soundtrack. Disney hasn’t said too much about the soundtrack, but hopefully we get some new details soon.
