Disney has changed the pre-show for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The updated scene involves Terry Crews asking what people of EPCOT call themselves. Before, Crews would pause after asking, which allowed guests to shout some very unfunny responses. Now, the scene “glitches” and removes the pause.
You can watch the updated pre-show scene below:
It’s kind of funny that Disney changed this scene some four years after Cosmic Rewind opened in 2022. This wasn’t a new problem. Guests have shouted out nonsense during Crews’ pause for years. Yelling “alcoholics” was the common response, though we’ve heard some others that were equally lame.
We’ve ridden Cosmic Rewind numerous times, and thankfully we’ve only heard some dumb responses shouted out a few times. The people yelling always have the same “I’m the main character” energy. It was beyond cringey. We felt bad for the first-timers who had their experience altered by people who thought they were funny.
This is a good time to remind that the ride pre-shows aren’t your opportunity to try and be funny or show off your Disney knowledge. The new guests visiting the Haunted Mansion want to hear the Ghost Host, not your version reciting the spiel. The same goes for Spaceship Earth and every other Disney World attraction.
“I am VERY serious about this.”
