Video: Time-lapse installation of Walt Disney World’s newest solar facility

Walt Disney World’s brand new 270-acre solar facility is officially online!

The new facility will provide renewable clean energy to Walt Disney World Resort and is expected to be able to power two of the four theme parks. The solar facility is Disney’s latest push to reduce emissions by 50% in 2020 compared to 2012.

Want to see how the facility was constructed? Check out this time-lapse footage showing the construction process.

We have loved the recent time-lapse videos produced by Disney, particularly this one of the massive Grand Floridian Gingerbread House and this one of the construction on the Guardians of the Galaxy indoor coaster. It’s a fun way to show off what goes into some of these larger projects.

It’s also great to see Disney’s move towards renewable energy. That push towards renewable energy, such as the new solar facility, comes as the state of Florida tries to remove Disney’s ability to ever build a nuclear facility.

We look forward to learning more about Disney’s move towards renewable energy in the near future.
