Video: Time-lapse construction of the 2018 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

The Grand Floridian Gingerbread House is one of the most iconic Christmas decorations in all of Walt Disney World. Ever wonder what it takes to build this enormous Gingerbread House in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort?

Watch this time-lapse video that shows the evolution of this year’s 14-foot creation.

It takes a small army to put this edible work of art together. It takes over 400 hours to bake the 10,000 pieces needed to assemble the house. It then takes another week to decorate. The ingredients include over 1,000 pounds of honey, 700 pounds of chocolate, 600 pounds of confectioner’s sugar and much more.

The 2018 edition represents the 20th anniversary of the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House, and we think they once again did an outstanding job.

After it’s completed, the Gingerbread House is home to a small store that sells – you guessed it – gingerbread.
