Once upon a time, Epcot was home to a motion simulator ride called Body Wars. The attraction was housed in the Wonders of Life pavilion and took guests on a wild ride inside the human body beginning in 1989. The experience closely resembled the current Star Tours ride in Hollywood Studios.
After closing down on January 1, 2007, rumors have constantly circulated about what the ride looks like today. Those rumors may finally be put to rest. A new behind-the-scenes video shows that the old vehicle bay that was home to the ride vehicles is almost completely empty.
Please note that we do not recommend attempting to film videos like the one below. Disney takes trespassing and leaking photos/video of backstage areas seriously. Enjoy the video before it’s eventually removed.
This type of video is always fascinating. Watching is like taking a trip back through time. The individual who shot the video will likely face legal repercussions from Disney if they find out who is involved, but we at least can enjoy the rare behind-the-scenes view into the pavilion.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that the old ride vehicles aren’t still sitting in the building. It’s been over 10 years since the last ride took guests on a trip through the human body. Most reports state that the vehicles were removed in 2014. Current rumors suggest that a new experience – no details on what that may be – could come to the Wonders of Life building after executives toured it back in February 2018.
Want to see what Body Wars used to look like? The video below starts with a tour of the front entrance and includes the pre-ride videos and the ride itself. The safety spiel starts around the 11:30 mark (check out those outfits!). Note guests walking through the doorways that are featured in the behind-the-scenes video.
