Construction is about to expand at Epcot for the transformation of Future World. Guide maps at Epcot have been updated to show more pathways will be closed and guests will be forced to go around the center of the theme park.
Based on the map, the only walkways that will be open near the front of the park are the bypass paths that sit on both the left and right of Spaceship Earth. The lush green space depicted in the center of Future World is actually construction, which includes the demolition of Innoventions West and the Fountain of Nations.
Guests planning to visit Epcot should be aware that it’s going to take additional time to make it around Future World. Instead of a straight walk between Mission: Space and The Land, you’ll have to walk over near the bridge into World Showcase or circle all the way back by Spaceship Earth. That’s a lengthy walk if you’re running late for your next FastPass+ reservation.
Construction is going to be a key talking point at Epcot for the next few years. Currently, work is expected to finish on the central portion of Epcot by 2023. That timeline hasn’t been officially announced by Disney and is subject to change based on any construction delays.
