The latest on the Star Wars resort that’s coming to Disney World

Disney recently announced that a new nature-inspired resort would be coming to Disney World in 2022. Within this announcement was a brief mention of the Star Wars Resort that’s supposed to be built near Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios.

To date, information on the Star Wars Resort has been limited, but Disney did provide a brief update on the project in their press release. Most of the information confirms previous reports.

Seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, an immersive Star Wars-inspired destination will also be built at Walt Disney World Resort. This first-of-its-kind resort will be a completely immersive experience into an authentic Star Wars story as guests depart together for a multiday adventure aboard their starship. Guests will interact with characters as they become active citizens of the galaxy, dressed in proper attire as stories unfold all around them.

Will the Star Wars Resort be physically connected to the land at Hollywood Studios, or just thematically connected? It seems like it would need to be physically connected in order to maintain the immersive story Disney is hoping to tell.

The other item of note here, which was previously announced, is that this will be a multi-day adventure where guests will dress up and become a character in the story. While that’s difficult to picture in terms of a standard resort, it’s easier to imagine when you compare it to a cruise rather than a standard Disney World vacation.

No planned opening date has been announced at this time.
