Spotlights return to the Chinese Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Chinese Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is receiving a new nighttime lighting package. The new LED lighting adds more golden accents, but the real star of the update is the return of spotlights to the building’s roof.

Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley announced the update.

Riddley notes that the spotlights will welcome guests to the premiere of the Mickey Mouse short that kicks off the mayhem inside Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

The searching spotlights were a regular feature of the Chinese Theatre, but were switched off more than 10 years ago. The lights have been used during the nighttime spectaculars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but this will mark the return of their regular use.

It’s nice to see the Chinese Theatre receiving some love while Disney enhances the other Walt Disney World icons for the 50th anniversary.
