Magic Kingdom to have Halloween decorations beginning September 15, guests allowed to wear costumes

Disney has announced some Halloween fun that will take place at the Magic Kingdom beginning September 15, 2020. Costumes, food and decorations will highlight the season for guests visiting during normal hours.

Halloween decorations will return to the park between September 15 and October 31. That includes those smiling Jack-o’-lantern (Mickey-o’-lanterns?) on the various light poles.

What’s Halloween without some tasty treats? The Magic Kingdom will also serve up several special food and drink options, many of which have been featured at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. You can read all about the spooky eats here. Disney will also roll out unique merchandise specific for this year’s Halloween season.

In addition, guests of all ages will be allowed to wear costumes during normal operating hours at the Magic Kingdom. That includes adults! But, as during previous Halloween events, only guests under 14 can wear a costume that fully covers their face. Guests will still be required to wear the mandated face masks, so we may see some creative takes on how to theme a face mask into a costume.

Summarized, Disney is trying to incorporate elements of the cancelled Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party into their daily Magic Kingdom operations. It’s a fun move after the disappointing yet understandable announcement that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party events wouldn’t be held in 2020.
