Fingerprint scanners are returning to the entrance of Walt Disney World theme parks

Walt Disney World is bringing back fingerprint scanners to the entrances of its theme parks. The scanners first reappeared at Disney’s Blizzard Beach, as spotted by Brooke McDonald, and are expected to return to the other theme parks soon.

The fingerprint scanners were removed when Walt Disney World resumed operations after their extended closure. The goal was to prevent guests from touching the same surface as countless other guests. Guests simply had to scan their ticket, phone or MagicBand at the entrance and were on their way.

Disney was testing a facial recognition system at Magic Kingdom, but it remains to be seen if that will make it beyond testing.

Now, it appears the old arrival process – scan your ticket, scan your fingerprint – is returning to Walt Disney World. Thankfully, the entire arrival experience has been greatly improved with the introduction of contactless security scanners instead of bag check.
