Walt Disney World is about to bring back two of its nightly spectaculars beginning on July 1, 2021. While guests anticipate the return of fireworks, we can’t help but wonder about Fantasmic! over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney has not announced the return of any nighttime entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at this time. The status of both Fantasmic! and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular are unknown. However, we can take an aerial look into the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater to see what’s going on.

The Fantasmic! theatre looks pretty sad at this time. The moat remains drained around the stage excluding some collected rainwater. Disney has performed a series of maintenance projects around the theatre while it’s been closed, but no equipment was visible in this latest photo.
Disney has a variety of permits in place for work taking place in the theatre. Construction details weren’t outlined, but we’ve already seen concrete work and some lighting maintenance. These permits have an end date in 2022, though Disney may complete the work well before that time.
We’re eagerly awaiting the return of nighttime entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
