Disney Villains After Hours events coming to the Magic Kingdom in Summer 2019

Updated:

Disney After Hours events provide guests an opportunity to experience a Walt Disney World theme park after it has closed for the day to regular guests. Now, Disney has decided to shake up their Disney After Hours offering at the Magic Kingdom by creating special Disney Villains After Hours events this summer.

These new events will take place on select nights between June 6, 2019 and August 8, 2019.

Like the normal Disney After Hours events, most of the Magic Kingdom’s attractions will be open for guests to enjoy with reduced waits. However, the Disney Villains After Hours events will contain some unique entertainment including a special villains stage show featuring characters from Hercules and (of course) some notorious villains.

In addition to the brand-new stage show, Space Mountain and the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions will receive “villain-inspired enhancements” for the events. No additional details have been provided as to what that entails, but it’s worth noting that Pirates received a couple live actors and Space Mountain turned all of its lights off during the enhancements for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Guests will also get to see the star of the Festival of Fantasy parade, Maleficent the Dragon, breathing fire as she journeys through the park.

Finally, villains-themed food, beverage and merchandise will be exclusively offered during the events.

Tickets will go on sale on April 29, 2019. They will cost $139 plus tax when purchased in advance, $144 plus tax on the night of the event. A $30 discount will be available for Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Passholders.

What do you think of the Magic Kingdom’s altered Disney After Hours events?

We think they sound like a slightly modified Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and while we certainly enjoy participating in those festivities, we’re a bit worried that this means the Magic Kingdom will close earlier more often to guests with normal tickets this summer.
