Disney Skyliner announced to open in Fall of 2019

Disney has announced that the Disney Skyliner will officially open in Fall of 2019. The opening date range was announced by Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products.

The Fall 2019 date may come as a bit of a surprise as work is currently underway to install the cables for the gondola. With all of the towers installed, the cable starting to go and the stations nearing completion, many suggested Summer 2019 for a potential opening. Instead, Disney has elected for a later date that should allow more than enough time for testing and correcting any setbacks.

The timing for the official opening of the Disney Skyliner should precede the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney will want the transportation system up and running long before the massive crowds descend on Hollywood Studios.

Based on the Disney Skyliner speed and travel time estimates, the gondola system will whisk guests around Disney World in a quick and convenient manner. It’s just too bad we have to wait so long for it to open.
