Disney CEO Bob Chapek provided a quick update on the previously-announced Mary Poppins attraction at Epcot. Chapek said that both the announced Mary Poppins attraction at Epcot and the Avengers E-ticket ride at Disney California Adventure are “in a holding pattern.”
He added that he hopes these projects will be refunded in the future. Chapek’s comments came during the company’s 2022 Annual Meeting of Shareholders after one shareholder asked about the status of announced projects.
The Mary Poppins attraction was originally announced back in 2019 and would expand the U.K. Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase. Disney confirmed the project was put on hold along with the refurb of Spaceship Earth in July 2020.
Specific details have been light on what the Mary Poppins attraction would actually be. Disney has said guests would step into Cherry Tree Lane, enter the Banks family home, and enjoy an attraction themed to Mary Poppins. Rumors have suggested the ride would be in line with a C-ticket, and could be a carousel surrounded by screens.
Hopefully Disney green lights the Mary Poppins attraction again in the near future.
