Disney World’s new Star Wars hotel will be connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Updated:

We finally have some new information on the Star Wars hotel that’s coming to Disney World! The hotel/resort, which is supposed to be a an experience “unlike anything that exists today,” will be connected to the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge location within Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Courtesy of the Disney Parks Blog, here’s some more information regarding the new hotel:

This first-of-its-kind resort will combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story. Guestsโ€™ journey through space will start when everyone departs together for a multiday Stars Wars adventure by boarding a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during a voyage through the galaxy.

At the resort, guests immediately become active citizens of the galaxy and can dress up in the proper attire. Every resort window will also have a view into space. The opportunity for immersion at this resort will also stand out among all Disney resorts around the globe, as it will be seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxyโ€™s Edge at Disneyโ€™s Hollywood Studios, allowing guests a total Star Wars experience.

It is worth noting that Disney doesn’t specify whether or not the connection is a physical one or one regarding story. We’d assume the hotel has to be physically close, if not literally connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in order to be the full immersive experience Disney is hyping.

As for the experience at the hotel itself, there’s still a lot left to be unveiled. We know guests can dress up and will be immersed in an “authentic” story. We know that every window will look out into space and will presumably assist with the storytelling. Beyond that, it’s mostly a guessing game. It’s possible this could be a cruise-style experience where all guests arrive at the same time and stay for the same amount of days before departing together. This would be more of a boutique, individualized experience rather than the traditional model used when booking other stays at a Disney World resort.

Following that model would grant Disney an opportunity for some seamless storytelling without the disruptions of guests coming in and out of the story.
