We have some good news and bad news about the Walt Disney World Railroad at the Magic Kingdom. The good news is the railroad will stay open to guests during the upcoming construction on Piston Peak in Frontierland! Unfortunately, the train won’t run a full-circle route again until Villains Land opens at some point in the distant future.
The Walt Disney World Railroad will begin its new shuttle route beginning on July 7 when the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island close. The train will only operate between the Main Street and Fantasyland stations. The construction on Piston Peak and then the future construction on Villains Land will keep the full-circle route closed until an unknown date years from now.
Honestly, we’re just glad the train will still be running! We had our doubts after the construction on TRON Lightcycle Run in Tomorrowland kept the train closed for a little over four years. Let’s all be thankful that Disney isn’t going that route again.
When will the Walt Disney World Railroad run a full circuit around the Magic Kingdom again? No one knows. Disney said it won’t be until Villains Land opens, but currently that expansion doesn’t even have a timeline. It’ll likely be well after 2030 before guests can take a full train ride around the park.
