TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom is finally dropping its virtual queue. Beginning September 9, 2024, guests will be able to utilize a traditional standby line to experience the attraction. Guests will still be able to purchase Lightning Lane Single Passes for TRON if they want to bypass the standby line.
Here’s the announcement from Disney:
A virtual queue is in place for TRON Lightcycle / Run through September 08, 2024. Beginning September 09, 2024, a standby queue will be available. Until then, Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter this attraction.
Disney has noted in the past that virtual queues can be brought back at any time if necessary.
This is a welcome change for TRON Lightcycle Run. The line for the coaster would often be relatively empty later in the day, frustrating guests who either didn’t get a virtual queue spot or guests who wanted to ride multiple times. Now, guests have the option of waiting the usual way or purchasing a Lightning Lane.
Speaking of virtual queues, we’re still wondering when a standby line will open for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. We even wrote in 2022 that the Cosmic Rewind virtual queue doesn’t make much sense, and yet it persists. It is true that Cosmic Rewind’s standby line isn’t the longest, but that shouldn’t mean a permanent virtual queue.
