Disney is finally moving forward with what’s next for the old home of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. We previously discussed in January 2025 that the former home of the most immersive Star Wars experience Disney has ever created is becoming office space. Now, it appears work is about to begin on modifying the building for this new purpose.
The new permit is filed with one of Disney’s largest construction partners, which suggests there’s going to be a lot of work done on the space. Disney is reportedly planning to use the building as its hub for Imagineering as they work on new projects around Walt Disney World (Tropical Americas, Monsters Inc land, Piston Peak, and more).
We know a lot of Disney fans have been holding on to a small amount of hope that Disney might reverse course and try something new with the Galactic Starcruiser. The concept had some really strong ideas that were unfortunately buried under the weight of some really poor ones. We discussed this at length (see our ‘Why did the Galactic Starcruiser Fail?‘ article), so we won’t rehash that here.
Technically, Josh D’Amaro was right when he said “something will happen” with the Galactic Starcruiser all the way back in 2023. Guests had hoped that would mean a modified experience or something new that Disney created after learning from their mistakes. Office space is “something” even though it’s a disappointing something.
