Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is expanding again at Walt Disney World through a new lounge that will begin being built in 2024. The Disney Parks Blog made the announcement in their post about upcoming changes coming to Disney parks in 2024.
Here’s the short blurb on the new DVC lounge.
Construction on a brand-new Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge will begin in 2024 at Walt Disney World. This will be a great place for members to relax and recharge during their day of fun!
It’s important to note that this new DVC lounge will be a brand-new place and isn’t an update to one of the existing DVC lounges at Walt Disney World. Currently, there are two DVC lounges – one at the Imagination! Pavilion at EPCOT and one in the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Disney did not indicate where this new DVC lounge will be built.
This new DVC lounge will be the third lounge at Walt Disney World, and is being built as DVC properties are expanding at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. We recently shared a look inside the DVC cabins coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, and have spent a lot of time talking about how the DVC tower coming to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will change the look and feel of the area.
We can’t help but point out that Walt Disney World’s current construction projects (now counting this new DVC lounge) are almost entirely for Disney Vacation Club. That’s a big problem when the theme parks desperately need additional capacity (true additions and not replacements), and other areas need some TLC. Disney needs to start greenlighting new projects at their theme parks and avoid the urge to keep overexpanding the DVC side of things.
