Multi-Hour Waits Hit the Magic Kingdom’s New DVC Lounge

Updated:

The new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) lounge at the Magic Kingdom has officially opened. The lounge, which has taken over the place of the old Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, had multi-hour waits during its first day of operation.

Big lines of interested DVC guests quickly formed outside the lounge, which made Disney deploy the all-too-familiar virtual line system. Guests provided their phone number and were texted when it was time to come back to the lounge. Some waits were reported to be over three hours. All that for some air conditioning and free soda!

It’s unclear whether the long waits were simply due to everyone trying to check out the space on its first day or if it was an indication of the lounge’s low capacity. Perhaps both. The lounge isn’t very large and can’t seat many guests.

We’ll have to wait and see how the Magic Kingdom’s DVC lounge operates on a more “normal” day in the future. But, for now, it’s clear Disney is trying to incentivize DVC members by expanding these lounge offerings around its theme parks.
