Remember the new bar that’s coming to the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort? The bar, which is inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage, was announced all the way back in April. Work began shortly after, but how do things look today? Well, let’s just say there’s a long way to go.
Friend of the site DC Baker popped into the Grand Floridian to see where Disney is at on the lobby update. Excluding construction walls, there’s not too much to see.
We know Disney said work on the lobby would last throughout the year (the resort’s giant Gingerbread House won’t be on display in 2025), but we still expected a bit more progress. The bar’s key infrastructure (like plumbing) at least appears to be in place. Things might speed up in a hurry once that phase is completed.
Below is the concept art Disney released showing the Grand Floridian’s updated lobby.
The new carpet, furniture, and other design updates have yet to be completed.
We’re not surprised to see a Disney construction project taking a long time. Outside of Disney Vacation Club offerings, these projects tend to drag on and on. However, the lobby bar is an immediate boost in revenue, so it’s kind of surprising Disney isn’t speeding this one up.
