Disney has officially confirmed that the construction happening on the site of the old Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge will be a new Disney Vacation Club hotel called Disney Lakeshore Lodge. The new resort will open in 2027.
Disney has also confirmed that the Disney Lakeshore Lodge will sit on the footprint of the Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge resort project. Like the old Reflections project, Disney says the hotel will be inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.
By all accounts, it sounds like the Disney Lakeshore Lodge will utilize the same plans as we saw from Reflections. Those old plans called for a 10-story hotel that will sit very close to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Few actual details have been released about either the formerly named Reflections project or the Lakeside Lodge project.
Since the idea of a Disney Vacation Club hotel was announced for this area, we’ve voiced some concerns about how it will impact the area. Fort Wilderness with its campgrounds and cabins thrives on the peace and tranquility of the area. That sense of disconnecting might prove more difficult with a 10-story hotel looming nearby.
We’ve also been concerned that Reflections, now known as Lakeshore Lodge, will continue Disney’s trend of bare, minimalist design. The old concept art we have seen seems to point in that direction, and we’re worried that Disney’s lack of theming in its resorts will come back to bite them sooner than later.
With construction rapidly underway on Lakeshore Lodge, we expect Disney will start releasing more details in the new future.
